There was a time when most people believed the Earth was flat since it seemed flat from where they stood.

Immense changes took place as western cultures realized the usefulness of thinking of the Earth as spherical. As the world was circumnavigated, a profound shift in consciousness extended the possibilities of mankind. While the true nature of the Earth remained unchanged, mankind was forever transformed.
